Instructor: Paul Rolfe. This is an on-going class that you can sign up for a month of sessions or up to three months in advance to save money. You are encouraged to take an introductory class before starting this program. In the class, you will be taught the traditional approach of woodcarving using gouges, chisels and a mallet. The first thing you will learn is how to sharpen your tools and then how to use them properly. Eventually, you will be able to work on any project of your choice, receiving instructive input along the way. Please call Paul at the store for more information.

This class covers all of the fundamentals of woodturning and should be taken before other turning classes. You will learn all about the machines, the tools and the techniques first so that you can fully enjoy finding your own way without the frustrations that many beginning wood turners experience. Projects will include a mallet and a pen.

In this hands-on class, you will turn a wooden bowl on the lathe. Emphasis will be on developing the proper skills for getting excellent results every time. If time permits, a natural edge bowl will be turned as well. Tool selection, use, and sharpening are all covered. Includes bowl blank.

This class covers all of the basics. It begins with a brief discussion of all of the different types of woodcarving tools, woods to use and styles of carving. Students will then carve a project and experience first hand how to use knives and gouges properly and safely. Students 11 years old and up are welcome however some youngsters may benefit from having an adult taking the class with them.

Turning a Lover's Tree (A captive ring Christmas tree) - This class will cover how to make a Lover's Tree. A basic knowledge of spindle turning is required. You can bring your own spindle tools if you wish. A special tool will be provided and instructions on how to make it will be given to each student. A face shield or safety glasses are required. All material will be furnished. Class size is limited to 4 students.
