This "Ready-to-Carve" 10" Flat Plain Edge Basswood Plate provides many opportunities for Intermediate to Advanced chip carvers to apply their own creativity. Some earlier versions of this "Sampler Plate" were printed with every triangle in the section marked for removal - a true challenge for most carvers, especially novice and beginner level chip carvers. Most. if not all, of the problems stemming from this early design, can be resolved by removing only the chips in each row, "pointing" to the center or to the outside edge of the plate. That will automatically result 1/2 of the triangles carved away, and the other half remaining as positive image triangles. This pre-printed pattern is offered in response to requests from chip carvers who want to use their chip carving skills to make beautiful items, but would rather not draw, trace, or transfer the patterns onto the wood themselves.
