Product Description
Ready-to-Carve 4-Seasons Trivet ; 8" x 8" x 1/2".
This 8 inch square piece incorporates most of the "cuts" used in Chip Carving. A completed version has been posted to provide an idea of what it looks like once carved and finished. Originally designed as a Novice/Beginner class project, it offers plenty of challenge for more experienced carvers too. The tree trunk and branches are approached as "line carvings" (versus cutting the entire space away with 2, 3, or 4-sided cuts. There is no wrong way to cut the the trees, branches, and leaves - although I've found that it helps to carve the leaves first, before carving the tree trunks and branches. Think of carving the four "square" areas as "free form" carving. In other words, if your knife travels off line defining trees, branches, or leaves, just keep going. Who's to say, once completed, that any portion was carved incorrectly the original pattern?
