WARNING to all California residents

Proposition 65 STATE OF CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH HAZARD ASSESSMENT SAFE DRINKING WATER AND TOXIC ENFORCEMENT ACT OF 1986

This allows for residents of California to be notified when items they purchase may include chemicals, create dust, or may be exposed to an atmosphere that may have harmful affects. This proposition pertains to certain items that are known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive issues if exposed to such chemicals above certain levels. The following is a link to see all of the chemicals listed as of July 20th, 2012:

WARNING: This product is known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive issues. This warning does not necessarily mean a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements, but simply that you should be aware of potential issues, according to the State of California that could arise from using them.

Be advised that there are additional warnings for other specific products as well:

  • Buffing / polishing compounds and certain finishing products
  • Electrical power cords
  • A variety of hand & power tools

Buffing & Polishing

Buffing / polishing compounds and finishing products: Any of these products containing progesterone is required to have to following warning notice:

WARNING: this product may contain progesterone, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer. Please consult a physician prior to using this product. Contact a physician if you have recently been exposed to this product.

Electrical Power Cords

California requires the following notice regarding electrical power cords:

WARNING: The wires of this product are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive issues.

Power Tools

California requires the following notice regarding hand & power tools:

WARNING: Some dust that is created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, or other activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive issues. Examples of these chemicals are: Lead from lead-based paints, PDF File - Requires Adobe Readercrystalline silica from bricks, cement, and other masonry products, and arsenic from chemically treated lumber materials. Your risk from exposure to these chemicals varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure, work in a well-ventilated area and with approved safety equipment, such as dust masks and dust collection that are specifically designed to filter out microscopic particles.
