This Hook & Loop (H&L) Medium Backing Pad is a 2” (50mm) diameter premium interface pad with genuine hook and loop material on the face. Though it can be used on the single, fixed speed Merlin2®, we recommend it is best used on the variable speed model, allowing greater control with its speed dial. This allows you to control the speed up or down depending on your application. You can fit all our H&L 2”, 2.2” (50mm, 56mm) Signature Series sanding discs as well as our complete range of Merlin Sanding Stars.

This medium pad is firmer, and greater pressure can be applied to large, uneven surfaces. It is more like the workhorse of the two. The soft pad conforms to the shape of the wood or workpiece. Using both medium and soft pads helps build even and contoured, convex, and concave shapes more easily.
