Saturday December 13th from 9:30am - 1:00pm
Instructor: Brian Coe
The hand plane is the king of the woodworking hand tools. See why this tool has persisted and thrived in the woodworking world for over two centuries! In this class, participants will learn how and why planes work the way they do. Various wood and metal-bodied planes will be shown and demonstrated, ranging from scrub, jack, smoothing, jointing planes, molding planes, and special-purpose joint planes. Participants will learn to set up, tune, and adjust their aircraft to provide glass-smooth surfaces and see-through shavings. The last step in the class will be to take a piece of rough-sawn lumber and plane it to a smooth, square, dimensioned board. Bring in your oddball or unknown planes for dating and identification.
