Description

This air-filled sanding drum has extraordinary features that set it apart from any other sander.

The flexible rubber drum contains an inflatable air chamber which conforms to the work surface and disperses the heat away from the sandpaper. Air circulation inside the drum maintains the sleeve surface at an ideal temperature without overheating.

The result is perfect contact between the sandpaper sleeve and the work surface, with no heat build-up or gummy residue left permanently in the sandpaper.

Even when sanding against the grain, Sand Boss eliminates burn marks on hard or soft wood surfaces. Because the abrasive never overheats, sandpaper life is prolonged tremendously and the sleeve surface can be easily restored with a rubber cleaning block.

The Sand-Boss boxed set includes 3 drums: (HT17500) 1-3/4"D X 2-1/2", (HT25001) 2-1/2"D X 3-5/8" and (HT40000) 3-3/4"D X 5-3/8".

    Inflating issue

Posted by Dwayne Smyth on Jan 10th 2022

First of all, the drums are well made & excellent quality, 5 stars here. The problem is the generic wording of "bicycle pump/air compressor". I purchased a bicycle pump (for ease of control filling) while waiting for my order to arrive. The lever operated chuck on the pump would not fit on HT17500 or HT25001 due to the valve is in a counter bore and the valve stem is shallow. Ordered a mini bike pump with a screw on fitting and my concern I had came to pass. Could not disconnect quick enough to keep required firmness. I tried my dual extension air chuck and it JUST worked (also tried another dual chuck with a longer inline primary and that style bottomed out first on the valve stem retaining nut). So, I ended up using my portable air tank. Replaced the pressure gauge to a lower range with 1lb graduations and installed my dual air chuck (that JUST works). I use my compressor to fill the tank to max PSI setting for the drum and I can easily get different firmness levels. This set up has been working fine. I did locate a chuck that looks perfect for this issue (might order later, did enough already). JB Tools; AMflo 126 1/4" NPTF straight chuck $2.41. Had photos to relay but this review process not set up for.
