Description

Finish and Maintain Your Cutting Board with the Product Trusted by Professional Woodworkers

Wooden cutting boards, regardless of their quality, require proper maintenance to ensure their longevity. Without regular treatment, they can dry out, crack, and even become susceptible to mold growth on their surfaces. Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil is designed to combat these issues by penetrating the wood with preserving oils and sealing the surface with water-repellent beeswax. This helps cutting boards last for generations.

Our Cutting Board Oil is 100% food-safe and free from toxins and synthetics, making it ideal for both new boards and for reconditioning older ones. It’s a heavy-duty formula that doesn't require multiple applications! Once applied, it leaves your board with a silky smooth finish, enhanced color, and a subtle sheen. The carefully balanced ingredients lock in the wood's natural tones while repelling water and food particles during use. Best of all, it only takes seconds to apply.

For New Wood Projects
When using Cutting Board Oil on new wood projects, it is important to sand the surface with grit between 320 and 600. To avoid raised grain, some woodworkers employ a method called sand-wet-sand. This involves sanding the board first, then wetting it, allowing it to dry, and finally sanding it again before applying the finish.

How to Maintain or Restore a Cutting Board
Maintaining and restoring a cutting board is straightforward. First, clean the cutting board with mild soap and lukewarm water, then let it dry completely. If you notice deep knife cuts or visible mold, you will need to sand the board with an electric orbital sander or a planer, if you have one available. Once you have sanded the entire surface, apply a coat of cutting board oil and allow it to dry for 12 to 24 hours. After the curing time, wipe away any excess oil.

Safe for Food-Contact Surfaces
Every product manufactured by Walrus Oil is 100% Food-Safe. All ingredients are considered GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA for use on food-contact surfaces. Our Cutting Board Oil can be used on kitchen butcher-block counters, cutting boards, wooden utensils, and even baby toys.

Using Cutting Board Oil with Other Products
The Cutting Board Oil can be used in conjunction with most other oil-based finishes or epoxy and resins, such as when making a "river board" or when using wood pieces that have had cracks and holes filled with epoxy.
