Class Description:
There is nothing like a sharp tool to make woodworking efficient and enjoyable, while a dull tool can make the most straightforward task into a frustrating chore. If the edges on your tools feel more like a putty knife than a carving knife, then join our introductory sharpening class. We will explore various hand-sharpening methods, including sandpaper, oil stones, water stones, ceramic stones, diamond stones, and leather strops. A wide variety of blades will be sharpened during the class, including chisels, plane blades, and turning tools. Learn to achieve a mirror-sharp edge on all your tools using one or more of these techniques to make your woodworking easier and more enjoyable. Make sure you bring a few of your dull tools to be sharpened as class samples and for the hands-on portion of the class. All participants will get the opportunity to hone their own tools using the sandpaper sharpening method during the class.
