The Hope Project

Nick Leonard and Jerry Measimer, along with a group from the North Carolina Wood Turners, have been traveling to Nicaragua once or twice a year. Their goal is to teach woodworking skills and help build and set up a workshop through the Hope Project International.

Our main priority at the moment is to secure support and tools. Jerry and Klingspor's Woodworking Shop, along with many other brands we collaborate with, have begun sending tools and materials. We are currently filling a 40-foot container with everything we can and will ship it early in 2026. We already have enough supplies in the country to conduct training sessions, and we are also selling some items in the US and Nicaragua to help fund our efforts. If you feel inclined to contribute financially, you can make monetary donations to the Hope Project International.

The goal is to continue educating, inspiring, and providing hope to the communities in Nicaragua. We have taught some students to use a palm router for the first time in their lives, and their first project was to create signs advertising what their neighbors produce, helping them raise money for their families. This is an incredible group of kids who struggle to put food on the table and provide roofs over their heads. Our mission plays a crucial role in their lives, and with education and increased confidence, we have already seen many positive changes in these young men’s futures.
