Length: 300 mm. This tool fits into a medium (blue) grub or medium (blue) quick head.

• One end features a 6 mm wide parting tool.

This is a versatile two-in-one tool.

It has long been understood that subjecting metal tools to elevated temperatures and then rapidly cooling them can alter their properties. This process alters the metal's crystal structure, affecting its performance during use.

The two main crystals found in tool steel are austenite, which is larger and softer, and martensite, which is smaller and more stable. Heat treatment aims to transform austenite into martensite, resulting in steel that has excellent wear characteristics and a degree of ductility.

When combined with high-quality heat treatment, the cryogenic process significantly enhances the transformation of austenite. At extremely low temperatures of -301°F (-185°C), fine ‘eta’ carbides are formed within the carbon structure. These ‘eta’ carbides grow very slowly and only at these low temperatures. They are extremely small and act as a 'filler' between the other crystals in the metal.

The combined effect of cryogenic processing is to produce a refined crystal structure in your hand tool, ensuring a lifetime of service. This process results in a blade that retains its edge longer and provides a superior feel during use.
