Narex Mortise Chisels

Mortise chisel with stained Beech handle.

The blades are made from fine-grained, nicely tempered chrome-manganese steel and hardened to Rc 59. The blades take and hold an excellent edge. The blades are precision ground. These mortise chisels are available in the following sizes: 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 mm. The blades are 5-7/8 inches long and are ground at a 25 degree bevel. The blade width tapers .030" from tip to shoulder for sidewall clearance. The blade thickness tapers from 3/8" at the tip to 1/2"at the shoulder. Handles are stained Beech and are 6-1/8" long and 1-1/2" diameter for a good firm grip. The blades have a well-seated heavy steel tang and handles have 2 steel ferrules to withstand heavy plows from a mallet. Overall lengths are 12".
