Sharpening Turning Tools for the Lathe

Class Size: Limited to 4 students 

Class Description: This class will focus on using a slow-speed grinder equipped with the Wolverine sharpening jig to sharpen turning tools, including bowl gouges, spindle gouges, skews, and scrapers. While we will briefly discuss other sharpening methods, such as hand sharpening and the Tormek system, the primary emphasis will be on the Wolverine design. Students will observe the sharpening of various tools and will have the opportunity to sharpen their own tools with assistance as needed. There will be a particular focus on bowl gouges and the specific grinds that contribute to successful sharpening.

Tools/Materials Required: Please bring your dull turning tools, as the instructor will demonstrate sharpening techniques, and you will have the chance to sharpen your own tools during the class.
