Description
Gränsfors Bruk Small Swedish Carving Axe - Double Bevel
This model is inspired by the Large Carving Axe, which was developed together with master craftsmen Wille Sundqvist and Onni Linnanheimo. It follows the style of traditional carving axes but is about 80% of the original size.
The Small Carving Axe features a long, curved cutting edge and comes with a double-sided sharpened edge as standard. You can also order it with a special 'carving grind' for either right-handed or left-handed use, with the edge ground on your preferred side.
Right-handed users usually pick the Small Carving Axe with the left side ground, while left-handed users prefer the right side ground version. This way, the longer, slightly concave bevel face is closest to the wood and gives better support while carving.
The Small Carving Axe, Left Side Ground, has a short bevel face on the right side of the edge when the axe is held in the right hand with the handle down, head up, and the edge facing away from you. The left side of the edge has a longer, slightly concave bevel face that supports the axe’s contact with the wood during carving.
If you hold the Small Carving Axe, Right Side Ground, in your left hand with the handle down and the edge facing away, you'll find a short bevel face on the left side of the edge. The right side has a longer, slightly concave bevel face that helps keep the axe in contact with the wood while you carve.
The axe comes with a sheath.
