Thin kerf blades have become extremely popular these days. They are more efficient, produce less waste and heat, and help underpowered saws run more smoothly.

Thin-kerf blades are very efficient for big commercial shops, as well as small DIY hobby shops. Due to the thinner tooth and plate design, they produce less material waste and heat build-up during the cut compared to their full-kerf brothers. This means that you get more yield from your sheet goods if you are cutting out small parts, and in most cases, a much cleaner, cooler cut, due to about 25% less width when used for ripping and crosscut applications on solid wood.

If you rip or crosscut thin stock, then a thin-kerf blade is a must. It places much less stress on the thin workpiece, which means less splitting and chipping out. Even in non-wood applications, like cutting plastic laminate, you will notice a significant improvement in quality and performance.

They also cut through dense hardwood material more easily because there is less resistance than a full kerf tooth. This is especially beneficial on lower-powered saws (true 2HP and less) like a contractor or job site saw.
