Description

Arm-R-Seal may be applied over oil or water stains made by other manufacturers. This pure urethane penetrates and preserves the natural look as well as giving it a much harder finish.

General Finishes Two Step Finishing System
"Get polyurethane performance without the plastic look"

The two step system from General Finishes is ideal for heavy wear areas such as floors and table tops but is equally appropriate for cabinets and other furniture. It's as tough and durable as polyurethane, yet easier to apply and it will never peel. This is very handy should you ever have to repair this finish. It leaves a natural look on the wood surface as only an oil finish can.

The first step is the wood stain, or seal-a-cell if you choose to finish clear. It is a blend of oil and varnish with the heavier part being oil. This ratio allows the finish to penetrate deep into the wood surface effectively sealing it. Once the wood is sealed, which takes only one coat unless you want the stain to be darker, the top coat, Arm-r-seal, is applied. The Arm-r-seal is a similar formula except it is heavier in varnish. This gives the finish coat its toughness and durability. After the surface is sanded to no finer than 220 grit, the finish is applied with either a soft cotton cloth or foam brush. Thin to moderate coats work best. Once the surface is coated, use the same application tool, rag or brush, to lightly wipe off the excess going with the grain. With a pint of the stain, or seal-a-cell, and a quart of Arm-r-Seal, you can properly finish a 100 square foot area with 1 seal coat and 3 top coats.
