A unique looking blank! When unstabilized, these blanks are incredibly soft as boxelder is known to be, but stabilizing it makes it perfect for turning. This wood is very different from blank to blank, but they have reddish flames running through them for a vibrant look. Some may also have some "black line" spalting.

Flame Box Elder
Very rough, needs preliminary cleaning with hand grinder before lathe work can begins. Wide variance in red figure. Some blanks with adequate color, others very plain.
