About the Instructor, Chris Smith

Born and raised in the Hickory area of NC, Chris followed his grandfather around and really took to woodworking. So much so he took it in school every year from middle school on. He's been woodworking since the late '80s and has built and installed cabinetry and furniture for cabinet shops, as well as owning his own custom cabinet and furniture business. Chris has worked in the abrasives industry since 2001 and has assisted customers from hobbyist to professional during this time.

Chris is active on social media and has a decent following on YouTube where he creates woodworking - related content, offering product reviews, woodworking tips, jigs, CNC, and other woodworking - based videos to help others.

Part of his "day job" was overseeing a line of router and CNC bits while working for KLINGSPOR Abrasives. This allowed him to work with a lot of commercial CNC operators and help dial-in machines and bits for a wide variety of applications. This drew his interest so he decided to get into CNC himself and add that to his traditional woodworking skills.
